Introduction

Cette sourate mecquoise fut révélée pour rassurer le Prophète (ﷺ). Puisque les fils du Prophète sont morts en bas âge, Al-’Ȃṣ ibn Wâ'il, un païen mecquois tristement célèbre, disait que Muḥammad (ﷺ) serait oublié parce qu'il n'avait pas de fils pour porter son nom. Aujourd'hui, « Muḥammad » est le nom le plus répandu au monde, tandis que le nom d'Al-’Ȃṣ est à peine mentionné. Il est ordonné au Prophète (ﷺ) de se consacrer à Allah seul, ce qui est le thème sous-jacent de la sourate suivante. Au Nom d'Allah, le Tout Miséricordieux, le Très Miséricordieux.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah Al-Kawthar, verse 1

إِنَّآ أَعْطَيْنَـٰكَ ٱلْكَوْثَرَ
Certes, Nous t'avons accordé le bien abondant.

فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنْحَرْ
Prie donc ton Seigneur et sacrifie.
