Introduction

Este capítulo del Corán fue revelado en La Meca para tranquilizar al Profeta (). Dado que los hijos del Profeta murieron en su infancia, Al As ibn Wail, un pagano de La Meca, solía decir que Mujámmad () sería olvidado porque no tenía un hijo que llevara su nombre. Hoy en día, ‘Mujámmad’ es el nombre más común en el mundo, mientras que el nombre de Al As apenas si se menciona. Se le ordena al Profeta () que sea devoto solo a Dios, lo que es el tema subyacente del próximo capítulo.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. [¡Oh, Mujámmad!] te he agraciado con la abundancia. 2. Reza a tu Señor y sacrifica [los animales en Su nombre]. 3. Porque a quien te desdeñe y odie le privaré de todo bien.

Surah Al-Kawthar, verse 1

إِنَّآ أَعْطَيْنَـٰكَ ٱلْكَوْثَرَ
[¡Oh, Mujámmad!] te he agraciado con la abundancia.

Surah Al-Kawthar, verse 2

فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنْحَرْ
Reza a tu Señor y sacrifica [los animales en Su nombre].

إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلْأَبْتَرُ
Porque a quien te desdeñe y odie le privaré de todo bien.
