Surah Mariam for kids content

BACKGROUND STORY
- •
The Prophet (ﷺ) was desperate to be visited by the angel Jibril and to receive more revelations.
So the Prophet (ﷺ) asked him one day, "I wish you could visit me more often.
" Verse 64 was revealed, telling the Prophet (ﷺ) that Jibril (A.
S.
) comes down only as instructed by Allah.
{Imam Al-Bukhari}
JIBRIL'S RESPONSE
64'We only come down by the command of your Lord.
To Him belongs whatever is before us, and whatever is behind us, and everything in between.
Your Lord never forgets.
65'He is the' Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything in between.
So, worship Him 'alone', and be patient in His worship.
Do you know of anyone equal to Him in His qualities?
'

WORDS OF WISDOM

Verse 71 refers to the bridge (known as Sirat) which is stretched over Jahannam (Hell).
Both the believers and disbelievers will be made to cross that bridge.
As for the believers, they will cross it safely, each at a different speed according to the strength of their faith.
The disbelievers and the hypocrites will end up falling or being dragged into the Fire.

SIDE STORY

'Abdullah ibn Rawahah (R.
A.
) (the Prophet's companion) was sick one day.
While he was resting with his head on his wife's lap, he started to cry.
When she saw this, she started to cry too.
He asked her why, and she said that she cried for him.
He said, "As for me, I cried when I remembered verse 19:71 because I'm not sure if I'll make it safely to the other side of that bridge
over Hell.
" {Imam Ibn Kathir}

DENIERS OF LIFE AFTER DEATH
66Yet someone asks 'mockingly', 'What!
After I die, will I really be raised to life again?
'
67Do such people not remem-ber that We once created them when they were nothing?
68By your Lord O Prophet'!
We will definitely gather them along with the devils, and then set them around Hell on their knees.
69Then We will drag out of every group those who were most stubborn with the Most Kind.
70We know very well those who deserve to burn in it the most.
71Every single one of you will have to pass over this Fire'.
It is the duty of your Lord to make this come true.
72Then We will save the faith-ful, leaving those who did wrong there, on their knees.
ARROGANT DISBELIEVERS
73When Our clear revelations are re-cited to them, the disbelievers ask the believers 'mockingly', 'Which of the two of us has a better status and more impressive gathering
places?
'
74'Imagine, O Prophet' how many peoples We have destroyed before them, who were far greater in luxury and style!
75Say, O Prophet, 'Let the Most Kind give lots of time to those who are lost, until they face what they are threatened with: either the punishment or
the Hour.
Only then will they realize who is worse in position and weaker in manpower.
'
REWARD OF THE FAITHFUL
76As for those who are 'rightly' guided, Allah will increase them in guidance.
And the good deeds that last forever are far better with your Lord in reward and in result.

BACKGROUND STORY
- •
One of the companions, named Khabbab ibn Al-Aratt (R.
A.
), said he worked as a blacksmith.
One time, Al-'Aş ibn Wa'il (an idol-worshipper who denied life after death) owed him money for a sword.
So Khabbab (R.
A.
) went to him to demand his money.
Al-'Aş told him, "I'm not paying you until you reject Muhammad (ﷺ).
" Khabbab (R.
A.
) replied, "I'm not going to reject him even if you die then come back to life.
" Al-'Aş responded, "If I'm raised back to life and blessed with wealth and children, come to me then and I'll pay you your money.
" So verses 77-80 were revealed.
{Imam Al-Bukhari & Imam Muslim}
A DENTER OF LIFE AFTER DEATH
77Have you seen '0 Prophet' the man who rejects Our revelations yet brags, 'I will definitely be blessed with 'a lot of wealth and children "if there is
actual-ly a second life"?
'
78Has he looked into the unseen or made a deal with the Most Kind?
79Not at all!
We certainly record whatever he claims and will increase his punishment tremendously.
80We will take away whatever he brags about, and he will come in front of Us all alone.
PER DAY
81They have taken other gods besides Allah, seeking strength through them.
82But no!
Those ˹gods˺ will deny their worship and turn against them.
83Do you not see that We have sent the devils against the disbelievers, constantly inciting them?
84So do not be in haste against them, for We are certainly counting down their days.
85˹Watch for˺ the Day We will gather the righteous before the Most Compassionate as an honoured delegation,
86and drive the wicked to Hell like a thirsty herd.
87None will have the right to intercede, except those who have taken a covenant with the Most Compassionate
ALLAH'S CHILDREN?
88They' say, 'The Most Kind has children.
'
89You have definitely made such a horrible claim,
90by which the heav-ens are about to burst, the earth to crack open, and the mountains to crumble to pieces
91in protest of making up chil-dren for the Most Kind.
92It is not pos-sible for the Most Kind to have children.
93There is none in the heavens or the earth who will not return to the Most Kind in full submission.
94He knows them very well and has counted them precisely.
95And each of them will return to Him on Judgment Day all alone.

WORDS OF WISDOM
- •
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If Allah loves a faithful servant, He calls the angel Jibril and tells him, 'I love this person, so love them too.
' Then Jibril (A.
S.
) declares in the heavens, 'Allah loves this person, so love them too.
' Then this person is blessed with sincere love from those on earth.
" {Imam Al-Bukhari}
BELIEVERS' LOVE FOR EACH OTHER
96As for those who believe and do good, the Most Kind will bless them with sin-cere' love.
THE WESSAGE OF THE QURAN
97And so, We have made this 'Quran' easy in your own language 0 Prophet' so with it you can give g0od news to the faithful and warn those
who are stub-born.
98'Imagine' how many peoples We have destroyed before them!
Do you still see any of them or even hear their sound?
How to study Surah Mariam with children
Use this children's lesson as a guided path: read the short explanation, look at the Arabic verse, listen to related recitation, and return to the full surah when your child is ready for more detail.
Parents can review one section at a time, ask the child to repeat the main idea, and then continue with the next part or a nearby surah. This keeps the lesson connected with Quran reading, audio, and daily practice.
