Os versículos 224-226 falam sobre os poetas idólatras que costumavam atacar o Profeta (ﷺ) e o Islã em seus poemas.
Eles compunham poemas sobre todo tipo de assunto, incluindo o consumo de vinho, relações românticas, elogiar amigos, criticar inimigos e recordar os mortos.
Eles também faziam poemas mentindo sobre sua suposta generosidade e bravura.
Eles elogiavam pessoas ricas em troca de dinheiro e criticavam aqueles que não pagavam.

O versículo 227 elogia os poetas muçulmanos que responderam aos ataques dos poetas inimigos e defenderam o Profeta (ﷺ) e o Islã em seus poemas.
OS POETAS
224Quanto aos poetas, são seguidos apenas pelos extraviados.
225Não vês como eles divagam por todo vale,
226e dizem o que não fazem?
227Exceto aqueles que creem, praticam boas ações, recordam-se muito de Allah e se defendem depois de terem sido injustiçados.
E os injustos saberão a que destino retornarão.
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ224
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِي كُلِّ وَادٖ يَهِيمُونَ225
وَأَنَّهُمۡ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفۡعَلُونَ226
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرٗا وَٱنتَصَرُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْۗ وَسَيَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَيَّ مُنقَلَبٖ يَنقَلِبُونَ227
