I versetti 224-226 parlano dei poeti idolatri che attaccavano il Profeta (ﷺ) e l'Islam nelle loro poesie.
Essi componevano poesie su svariati argomenti, tra cui il consumo di vino, i rapporti amorosi, l'elogio degli amici, la critica dei nemici e il ricordo dei defunti.
Componenvano anche poesie in cui mentivano sulla loro generosità e sul loro coraggio.
Elogiavano i ricchi in cambio di denaro e criticavano coloro che non li ricompensavano.

Il versetto 227 elogia i poeti musulmani che rispondevano agli attacchi dei poeti nemici e difendevano il Profeta (ﷺ) e l'Islam nelle loro poesie.

224E quanto ai poeti, li seguono solo gli sviati.
225Non vedi come vagano in ogni valle,
226e dicono ciò che non fanno?
227Eccetto coloro che credono, operano il bene, ricordano spesso Allah e si difendono dopo aver subito un torto.
Coloro che hanno commesso ingiustizia presto sapranno quale rovescio li attende.
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ224
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِي كُلِّ وَادٖ يَهِيمُونَ225
وَأَنَّهُمۡ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفۡعَلُونَ226
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرٗا وَٱنتَصَرُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْۗ وَسَيَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَيَّ مُنقَلَبٖ يَنقَلِبُونَ227
