Los versículos 224-226 tratan sobre los poetas idólatras que solían atacar al Profeta (ﷺ) y al Islam en sus poemas.
Componían poemas sobre todo tipo de temas, incluyendo la bebida de vino, las relaciones románticas, la alabanza a amigos, la crítica a enemigos y el recuerdo de los
muertos.
También componían poemas en los que mentían sobre su generosidad y valentía.
Alababan a los ricos a cambio de dinero y criticaban a quienes no pagaban.

El versículo 227 elogia a los poetas musulmanes que respondieron a los ataques de los poetas enemigos y defendieron al Profeta (ﷺ) y al Islam en sus poemas.

224En cuanto a los poetas, solo los descarriados los siguen.
225¿No ves cómo divagan sobre todo,
226diciendo solo cosas que nunca hacen?
227Excepto aquellos que creen, obran rectamente, recuerdan a Alá con frecuencia y se defienden después de haber sido agraviados.
Y los injustos pronto sabrán a qué destino regresarán.
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ224
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِي كُلِّ وَادٖ يَهِيمُونَ225
وَأَنَّهُمۡ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفۡعَلُونَ226
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرٗا وَٱنتَصَرُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْۗ وَسَيَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَيَّ مُنقَلَبٖ يَنقَلِبُونَ227
