Al-Masad (The Palm-Fibre Rope)
Introduction
This Meccan sûrah is a warning to Abu Lahab (lit., the Father of Flames), who was an uncle of the Prophet (ﷺ). Both Abu Lahab and his wife Um Jamîl used to abuse the Prophet (ﷺ) and deny the One True God, Who is described in the next sûrah. In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
The Fate of an Evil Couple
1. May the hands of Abu Lahab perish, and he (himself) perish! 2. Neither his wealth nor (worldly) gains will benefit him. 3. He will burn in a flaming Fire, 4. and (so will) his wife, the carrier of (thorny) kindling, 5. around her neck will be a rope of palm-fibre.
تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ٢
سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ٣
وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ٤
فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ٥
