このメッカ啓示のスーラは、預言者（彼にアッラーの平安と祝福あれ）の叔父であったアブー・ラハブ（文字通り「炎の父」の意）への警告である。アブー・ラハブとその妻ウム・ジャミールは共に、預言者（彼にアッラーの平安と祝福あれ）を虐待し、次のスーラで述べられている唯一の真の神を否定していた。慈悲深く慈愛あまねきアッラーの御名において

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

邪悪な夫婦の運命

1. アブー・ラハブの両手は滅びよ。そして彼自身も滅びよ。 2. 彼の財産も、彼が得たものも、彼には何の役にも立たないであろう。 3. 彼は燃え盛る炎の中に入るであろう。 4. そして彼の妻もまた、薪を運ぶ者として、 5. 彼女の首には、ナツメヤシの繊維の縄がかけられるであろう。

تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ

سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ

وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ

فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ

Surah Al-Masad, verse 1

تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ

アブー・ラハブの両手は滅びよ。そして彼自身も滅びよ。

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ

彼の財産も、彼が得たものも、彼には何の役にも立たないであろう。
