Al-'Aṣr (The Passage of Time)
Makki SurahIntroduction
This Meccan sûrah emphasizes that, unlike the evildoers mentioned in the next sûrah, only those who take advantage of this fleeting life by doing good will be successful in the eternal life to come. In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
Wake-up Call to Humanity
1. By the (passage of) time! 2. Surely humanity is in (grave) loss, 3. except those who have faith, do good, and urge each other to the truth, and urge each other to perseverance.
وَٱلْعَصْرِ
١
إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ٢
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِٱلصَّبْرِ٣
