allah has given people free choice.
some choose to have a good relationship with allah and care about fellow human beings, and some choose to deny allah and not care about others.
whatever people choose to do, allah makes it easy for them.
each person will be rewarded or punished in the next life based on their choices in this world.
BACKGROUND STORY
Bilal ibn Rabah was a Muslim slave owned by Umayyah ibn Khalaf, an evil Makkan idol-wor- shipper. Umayyah used to torture Bilal to force him to leave Islam, but he always refused. One day, Abu Bakr , the Prophet's companion, passed by Bilal while he was being tortured with a big rock over his chest, and felt very sorry for him. He went to Bilal's master and paid for his freedom. Some idol-worshippers started to say that Abu Bakr freed him in the sun wi because Bilal did him a favour in the past. But this surah came down to let everyone knoW that Abu Bakr did it only for the sake of Allah. and he will be very satisfied with the reward Allah will give him in Jannah. Evil people like Umayyah are warned of a horrible punishment in the Fire. {Recorded by Imam Al-Qurtubi}
THE FAITHFUL AND THE FAITHLESS
1By the night when it covers, 2and the day when it shines! 3And by the One' Who created male and female! 4Surely your efforts are totally different. 5As for the one who gives charity, and keeps Allah in Mind, 6and 'fully' believes in the greatest reward, 7We will smooth for him the Way of Ease. 8And as for the one who does not share, and thinks he is not in need, 9and fully' denies the greatest reward, 10We will smooth for him the way of hardship. 11And his wealth will not help him when he drops 'into Hell'.
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰ 1وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ 2وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ 3إِنَّ سَعۡيَكُمۡ لَشَتَّىٰ 4فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أَعۡطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ 5وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ 6فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ 7وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ 8وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ 9فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡعُسۡرَىٰ 10وَمَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ11
THE REWARD AND PUNISHMENT
12It is definitely Our duty to show 'the way to' guidance. 13And surely this life and the next belong to Us 'alone'. 14And I so I have warned you 'idol-worshippers' of a burning Fire, 15in which none will burn except the doomed— 16Who denies and turns away. 17But the faithful will be safe from it 18who donates 'some of his wealth to purify himself, 19not in return for someone's favours, 20only seeking to please his Lord, the Most High. 21Surely he will be satisfied.
إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَلۡهُدَىٰ 12وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلۡأٓخِرَةَ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ 13فَأَنذَرۡتُكُمۡ نَارٗا تَلَظَّىٰ 14لَا يَصۡلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡأَشۡقَى 15ٱلَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ 16وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَتۡقَى 17ٱلَّذِي يُؤۡتِي مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ 18وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعۡمَةٖ تُجۡزَىٰٓ 19إِلَّا ٱبۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ 20وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضَىٰ21
