Al-Qadr (The Night of Glory)
Introduction
Since the previous sûrah commemorates the first revelation, this Meccan sûrah celebrates the glorious night the Quran was revealed, which is believed to be the night of Ramaḍân 27, 610 C.E. The reason why the Prophet (ﷺ) was sent with the Quran is spelled out in the next sûrah. In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
The Night the Quran Was Revealed
1. Indeed, (It is) We (Who) sent this (Quran) down on the Night of Glory. 2. And what will make you realize what the Night of Glory is? 3. The Night of Glory is better than a thousand months. 4. That night the angels and the (holy) spirit descend, by the permission of their Lord, for every (decreed) matter. 5. It is all peace until the break of dawn.
