Surah 93 - Aḍ-Ḍuḥa

Aḍ-Ḍuḥa (Surah 93)

Aḍ-Ḍuḥa (The Morning Sunlight)

Makki SurahMakki Surah

Introduction

It is reported that the revelation stopped for a while after the initial sûrahs of the Quran, so some Meccan pagans started to mock the Prophet (ﷺ), saying that Allah has become neglectful and hateful of him (ﷺ). Therefore, this Meccan sûrah was revealed to refute their false allegations and remind the Prophet (ﷺ) of some of Allah’s favours. In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

Reassuring the Prophet

1. By the morning sunlight, 2. and the night when it falls still! 3. Your Lord (O Prophet) has not abandoned you, nor has He become hateful (of you). 4. And the next life is certainly far better for you than this one. 5. And (surely) your Lord will give so much to you that you will be pleased. 6. Did He not find you as an orphan then shelter you? 7. Did He not find you unguided then guide you? 8. And did He not find you needy then satisfy your needs? 9. So do not oppress the orphan, 10. nor repulse the beggar. 11. And proclaim the blessings of your Lord.
