LEARNING POINTS

the prophet did not come with a new message. all prophets asked their people to do the same thing: believe in allah and do good.

when the prophet came with the truth, some believed in him, but many continued their disbelief.

those who disbelieve are warned of a horrible stay in jahannam forever, and those who believe are promised a great stay in jannah forever.

ubai ibn ka'b was a great companion who used to write the quran down for the prophet. one day, the prophet told him, "allah has ordered me to recite surah al-bayyinah to you." ubai asked in shock, "did allah mention me by name?" when the prophet said yes, ubai started to cry out of joy. {recorded by imam al-bukhari & imam muslim}

WORDS OF WISDOM

WORDS OF WISDOM

The Prophet š said that Allah sent a total of 124,000 prophets/messengers from Adam to Muhammad . {Recorded by Imam Ahmad & Imam Ibn Hibban) The Quran (35:24) says that every community received at least one prophet at some point in their history. Although these prophets came with different laws, their message was always one: worship Allah and be a good person. Someone may ask, "If Allah sent all these prophets/messengers, how come only 25 of them are mentioned in the Quran?" We need to keep in mind that the Quran is not a history book. All prophets came to teach people how to worship Allah and live with dignity. lo give us a complete way of life, Allah has sampled these prophets in the Quran, so each of them teaches us about a different aspect of life, For example, some of them had to deal with politcal issues, like Musa A. Some had to deal with family issues, like Yusuf . Some had to deal with business issues, like Shu'aib x. And so on. As the Last Prophet, Muhammad s gave us universal teachings covering all aspects of life, so no more prophets are needed.

According to the following passage, all Allah wants from people is to be sincere to Him. Khad- ijah , the Prophet's wife, died before the companions were required to do certain acts of worship. So, she didn't fast any Ramadan, or pray 5 times a day, or do hajj. But the Prophet S received good news from Allah that she will have a great palace in Jannah for her sincerity. {Recorded by Imam Al-Bukhari}

SIDE STORY

SIDE STORY

The new Imam noticed that not a lot of people came for şalah after the 4th day of Ramadan. So he made an announcement at Jum'ah, saying that those who will attend prayers in the mas- jid everyday will get a big reward by the end of the month. So many people started to come, thinking that the Imam will pay them money at the end of Ramadan. On the day of Eid, ev- eryone came with a truck to collect their reward, but they were disappointed when the lmam said that he meant Allah's reward in Jannah. Some of them shouted while they left the masjid, "We knew you were tricking us, but we have some bad news for you: we always came to şalah without wudu! Who has the last laugh now?" Do you think these people were sincere when they came to şalah or they just came for money?

THE PROPHET IS THE CLEAR PROOF

1The disbelievers from the People of the Book and the idol-worshippers were not going to quit disbelief until the clear proof came to them: 2a messenger from Allah, reciting holy writings, as & 3with perfect teachings. 4The People of the Book did not become divided 'about his prophethood' until the clear proof came to them' 5even though all they have been asked to do is to worship Allah 'alone' being true to Him in all sincerity—offer salah, and pay zakah. That is the true Way.

Verse 5: When they saw the proots of his prophethood, some of thembelieved in him and some denied him.

PUNISHMENT OF THE DENIERS

6Surely those who continue to disbelieve from among the People of the Book and the idol-worshippers will be in the Fire of Jahannam, to stay there forever: They are the worst of all beings.

REWARD OF THE BELIEVERS

7Surely those who believe and do good—they are the best of all beings. 8Their reward with their Lord will be Gardens of Eternity, under which rivers flow, to stay there for ever and ever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. This is 'only' for those who honour their Lord.
