BACKGROUND STORY
At some point after the revelation of the first few surahs of the Quran, there was a period in which no revelations came down. So the idol-worshippers started to make fun of the Prophet , saying that his God left him because He doesn't like him anymore. Soon, this surah was revealed to show Allah's support and care for His Prophet . (Recorded by Imam AI-Bukhari & Imam Muslim}
WORDS OF WISDOM
There are many verses in the Quran that encourage caring for orphans, and forbid abusing them. When a child loses a parent, everyone in the community should become like a parent to that child. A man came to the Prophet s% and said that he felt his heart was hard. The Prophet s told him, "if you want your heart to become soft and your needs to be taken care of, then show mercy to orphans, wipe over their heads, and feed them." (Recorded by Imam At-Taba- rani)
SIDE STORY
This is a true story of a doctor who went to the airport to catch a flight to attend a conference overseas. He was toid that the flight was cancelled and he should wait till tomorrow to take the next flight. He said he had to travel the same day, so they advised him to rent a Allah swears by the day and night that He loves and cares about His Prophet . Allah reminds the Prophet that He took care of him when he was an orphan and in need of support and guidance. Allah promises to continue His care and support. The Prophet is asked to take care of the orphans as well as those in need of help and supportcar and drive 4 hours to the nearest air- port. On the way to the other airport, it started to rain very hard. The doctor got lost, and ended up with a flat tire. He was very frustrated and started to search for help. He saw one Iittle house, so he knocked on the door. A poor woman and her orphan kids opened the door. She told him that her son was very sick, and she had been praying to Allah to send help. The doctor realized that his flight was cancelled, he got lost, and had a flat tire in response to that woman's prayer. He promised to pay for her son's hospital expenses and sponsor her orphans.
SUPPORTING THE PROPHET
1By the morning sunlight, 2and the night when it falls still! 3Your Lord 'O Prophet' has not left or hated you. 4And the Next Life will definitely be much better for you than this one. 5And surely your Lord will give so much to you that you will be satisfied. 6Did He not find you as an orphan then sheltered you? 7Did He not find you without guidance then guided you? 8And did He not find you needy then satisfied your needs? 9So do not abuse the orphan, 10or yell at the beggar. 11And let others hear about the blessings of your Lord.
وَٱلضُّحَىٰ 1وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ 2مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ 3وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرٞ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ 4وَلَسَوۡفَ يُعۡطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرۡضَىٰٓ 5أَلَمۡ يَجِدۡكَ يَتِيمٗا فََٔاوَىٰ 6وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلّٗا فَهَدَىٰ 7وَوَجَدَكَ عَآئِلٗا فَأَغۡنَىٰ 8فَأَمَّا ٱلۡيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقۡهَرۡ 9وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلَا تَنۡهَرۡ 10وَأَمَّا بِنِعۡمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثۡ11
