LEARNING POINTS
this surah talks about some of the horrors of judgment day.
everyone will be rewarded or punished according to their deeds.
allah swears that the quran is his word and that muhammad is his prophet.
the prophet said, "whoever really wants to know what judgment day will look like, let them read surah at-takwir (81), surah al-infitar (82), and surah al-inshiqag (84)" {recorded by imam at-tirmizi & imam ahmad}.
HORRORS OF JUDGMENT DAY
1When the sun is put out, 2and when the stars fall down, 3and when the mountains are blown away, 4and when pregnant camels are left all alone', 5and when wild beasts are gathered together, 6and when the seas are set on fire, 7and when the souls 'and their bodies' are paired 'once more', 8and when baby girls, buried alive, are asked 9for what crime they were put to death,' 10and when the books of deeds are laid open, 11and when the sky is ripped away, 12and when Hell is flared Up, 13and when Jannah is brought near— 14'on that Day' each soul will know what deeds' it has brought along.
إِذَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ 1وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتۡ 2وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡ 3وَإِذَا ٱلۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ 4وَإِذَا ٱلۡوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتۡ 5وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ 6وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتۡ 7وَإِذَا ٱلۡمَوۡءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتۡ 8بِأَيِّ ذَنۢبٖ قُتِلَتۡ 9وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ 10وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡ 11وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتۡ 12وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَنَّةُ أُزۡلِفَتۡ 13عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٞ مَّآ أَحۡضَرَتۡ14
Verse 13: Some idol-worshippers killed their daughters for fear of poverty or shame. Islam stopped this horrible practice
Verse 14: Pregnant camels were the most expensive item in the desert culture.
BACKGROUND STORY
According to the next passage, the idol-worshippers accused the Prophet of making up the Quran, calling him crazy. In the following passage, Allah swears by S is His Prophet and that the Quran is His the day and night that Muhammad is honest in everything he says, including Word. Allah says that the Prophet . The purpose of the Quran is to remind the fact that he saw the angel Jibreel the people of their Lord and guide them to the Straight Path of Islam. {Recorded by Imam lbn Kathir}
A MESSAGE TO THE DENIERS
15I swear by the sneaking stars' 16that travel and hide, 17and the night as it falls 18and the day as it breaks! 19Surely this Quran' is the Word of Allah delivered by Jibreel,' a noble messenger-angel 20full of power, held in honour by the Lord of the Throne, 21Obeyed there in heaven, and fully trusted. 22And your fellow man Muhammad is not crazy. 23And he actually saw that 'angel' on the clear horizon, 24and he does not hold back what is revealed to him of the unseen. 25And this 'Quran' is not the word of a rejected Devil. 26So what 'other' path would you take? 27Surely this Quran' is only a reminder to the whole world— 28to whoever of you wishes to take the Straight Way. 29But you cannot do so, except by the Will of Allah, the Lord of the whole universe.
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلۡخُنَّسِ 15ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡكُنَّسِ 16وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا عَسۡعَسَ 17وَٱلصُّبۡحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ 18إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولٖ كَرِيمٖ 19ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي ٱلۡعَرۡشِ مَكِينٖ 20مُّطَاعٖ ثَمَّ أَمِينٖ 21وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجۡنُونٖ 22وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ 23وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِينٖ 24وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٖ 25فَأَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُونَ 26إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرٞ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ 27لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمۡ أَن يَسۡتَقِيمَ 28وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ29
Verse 28: This probably refers to black holes which are huge stars that have collapsed, sucking up everything around them. They spin and travel through space, but cannot be seen. Kanasa in Arabic means to sweep or hide. Miknasah, which comes from this verb, is the standard word for a vacuum cleaner
Verse 29: Meaning that he % delivers to you whatever he receives from Allah, nothing more and nothing less.
