LEARNING POINTS
Prophet Nuh (AS) invited his people to Islam for 950 years.
He called them one by one and in groups, secretly and publicly, using logic to prove that Allah is the only Creator and He is the only One Who deserves worship.
However, most of his people refused to believe in his message. So they were destroyed by a horrible flood.

WORDS OF WISDOM
Although Prophet Nuh invited his people to Islam for 950 years, only a few of them believed in his message. In comparison, Prophet Muhammad worked for only 23 years, but he will have the largest number of followers on Judgment Day. (Recorded by Imam Al-Bukhari & Imam Muslim) Still, both Nuh and Muhammad have been honoured by Allah. Both are loved by Muslims. Both have surahs of the Quran named after them. Both are among the top 5 prophets of Islam, along with lbrahim , Musa , and'Isa .And both will be in the highest places in Jannah. In Islam, Allah gives us the reward based on our effort, not the results.
NUH INVITING TO THE TRUTH
1Surely We sent Nuh to his people 'and said to him', "Warn your people before a painful punishment comes to them." 2Nuh announced, "O my people! I am truly sent to you with a clear warning: 3worship Allah 'alone', fear Him, and obey me. 4He will forgive your sins, and leave you to enjoy life until the time set for you. Certainly when the time set by Allah comes, it cannot be delayed, if only you knew!"

SIDE STORY
A 5 year-old boy asked his mom, Where did I come from? The surprised mom struggled to come up with an answer that made sense. She said, One night before I went to bed, I got some sugar from the kitchen and put it under the carpet in the living room. Then the miracle happened and I found you in the morning under the carpet. Now you know why you are so sweet-because you are made of sugar! The kid was amazed by this simple experiment, so he decided to try it before he went to bed that night. He got some sugar from the kitchen and put it under the carpet. Sure enough, he didn't find a baby in the morning-instead he found 3 big cockroaches! He ran to his mom and woke her up, telling her that his experiment went terribly wrong and all he got was 3 big cockroaches. His mom asked in shock, 1 didn't know we had cockroaches in the house. Did you kill them? He answered, How can I kill my own kids

WORDS OF WISDOM
Allah says in the Quran (16:78) that he brought us out of the wombs of our mothers while we knew absolutely nothing, then He gave us the ability to observe and think. Kids learn by asking questions about Allah and the world around them, including how they were created. The Quran talks about how humans are created in a simple and logical way. For example according to verses 17-18 of the following passage, Allah says that He created us like plants coming out of the earth, then the seeds go back into the earth before coming back to life.

950 YEARS OF INVITING TO ISLAM
5He said,"My Lord! I have surely called my people by night and by day, 6but my calls only made them run farther away. 7And whenever I invite them so You can forgive them, they press their fingers into their ears, cover themselves with their clothes, keep denying, and act very arrogantly. 8Then I definitely called them openly, 9and I surely invited them 'to the faith' publicly and privately, 10saying, 'Ask your Lord for forgiveness; He is truly Most Forgiving, 11He will shower you with a lot of rain, 12Supply you with wealth and children, and bless you with gardens as well as rivers. 13What is the matter with you that you do not show proper respect to Allah, 14When in fact He created you in Stages 'inside your mothers'? 15Do you not see how Allah created seven heavens, one above the other, 16placing the moon within them as a 'reflected' light, and the sun as a 'shining' lamp? 17And Allah 'alone' caused you to grow from the earth like plants. 18Then He will return you to it, and then simply bring you out 'again'. 19And Allah spread out the earth for you 20to walk along its wide pathways."

SIDE STORY
Khalil heard his neighbour say that their other neighbour, Zaltan, dyed his hair because he was getting old. Khalil told his wife that Zaltan died because he became bald. His wife told her sister that their old sultan died because of the cold. The rumour spread like wildfire. People panicked because they didn't know who was going to rule the kingdom after the sudden death of their sultan. This is called the telephone game, where one piece of information changes as it is passed from one person to another until the truth is lost completely.

BACKGROUND STORY
The telephone game has something to do with the idols in the next passage. At first, statues were made to honour some good people before the time of Nuh . The story of those good peopie changed when it was passed down from one generation to another. After many generations, those statues became idols and were worshipped as real gods. This is what happens when people blindly pass down information without checking if it is true or not. {Recorded by Imam Al-Qurțubi}
THE FLOOD
21Finally, Nuh cried, "My Lord! They have definitely kept disobeying me, and followed instead' those 'evil leaders' whose wealth and children only increase them in loss, 22and who have made serious plans 'against the truth', 23saying 'to their followers', Do not leave your idols—especially Wadd, Suwa', Yaghuth, Ya'uq, and Nasr' 24Those leaders' have truly led many the wrong way. So O Lord', only allow those who do wrong to be doomed." 25So because of their sins, they were drowned, then entered into the Fire. And they found no one to help them against Allah.

WORDS OF WISDOM
No one loves us more than our parents. In many places in the Quran (including 4:36, 6:151 and 17:32), Allah says, Worship Me alone, and honour your parents. The reason Allah talks about Himself along with parents is because He is our Creator, and our parents are the reason why we are here. Our relationship with Allah and our parents can never be cut off. Allah is everyone's Lord even if some say that He is not. The same is also true for your parents. If you fire someone who works for you, or unfriend someone on Facebook, or divorce your spouse, then your relationship with them is over. But your parents will always be your parents-you can't fire, unfriend, or divorce them. the challenges they faced ine verses (such as 31:14 and 46:15) focus only on mothers and during pregnancy, childbirth and while nursing. Abdullah ibn Omar once saw a man carrying his mother on his back during hajj. The man asked lbn Omar if he h had paid back the favours his mother had done for him. Ibn Omar said he had not even paid back one of the sharp pains she suffered while giving birth to him. The focus on mothers and their struggles is to remind us of their sacrifices, which we often forget or don't know about.

Sometimes we feel that our parents are trying to limit our freedom just because they don't allow us to play too much with electronics, or because they want us to eat healthy, or do our homework, or get enough sleep, or take medicine when we are sick, or put a jacket on when it's freezing outside. They do it because they care, even if we don't see it this way.

SIDE STORY
This is a true story of a young man named Hamzah. He didn't like it when his dad corrected him every time he left the fridge door open, the water tap dripping, or his bedroom lights on. His dad tried to teach him to be 'positive and responsible,' but Hamzah felt that his dad was trying to make things difficult for him. After Hamzah's graduation, he applied for a job ata big company. As he walked into the building for the interview, he saw a sign on the front door that says HELL' and noticed a sticker on the floor with the letter 0. He put it at the end of the sign to complete the word HELLO' He also noticed that the air conditioner was dripping on the stairs so he put the dripping tube back in the right place. In the waiting room, he realized that the electric box was open and a couple of wires were hanging down, so he put them back and closed the box. Finally, when he went inside the meeting room for the interview, they asked him one question: When would you like to start the new job? He was so confused that he thought they were pranking him. They told him that they had put cameras everywhere, and they saw all other candidates pass by without doing anything about the sign, air conditioner, or wires. He was the only candidate who was 'positive and responsible' enough to take action. This is the first time Hamzah was able to appreciate his dad.

We should treat our parents the way we would like to be treated by our own children in-sha-Allan. We should respect them and make du'a for them, as Nuh à did, according to verse 28 in the fol- lowing passage.
NUH'S PRAYER BEFORE THE FLOOD
26Nuh had prayed, "My Lord! Do not leave a single disbeliever on earth. 27If You leave 'any of them, they will definitely mislead Your servants, and give birth only to wicked disbelievers." 28My Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and whoever enters my house in faith, and all believing men and women. And increase those who do wrong only in destruction."
