LEARNING POINTS

LEARNING POINTS

Allah has created the universe perfectly.

He has the power to bring everyone back to life for judgment.

Everyone should be grateful to Allah, Who is always taking care of us.

It's important to listen and think carefully about what's being said before replying.

Those who believe in Allah will be rewarded in Jannah, and idol-worshippers (who believe in powerless gods and mock Judgment Day) will be punished in Jahannam.

The Prophet (PBUH) said that on Judgment Day this surah will speak in defense of the one who used to read it in this world until they are forgiven. {Recorded by Imam Abu Dawood}

SIDE STORY

SIDE STORY

A very powerful, rich king was on his deathbed. He told his as- sistants, After I die, let my doctors carry my body, and make sure people see mny hands. When they asked why, he said, I want people to know that even my doctors couldn't save me from death, and I want them to see that I left this world with empty hands.

According to the following passage, this life is a test. We come to this world with nothing and leave with nothing, except our deeds. These deeds decide if we will be rewarded or punished on Judgment Day..

LIFE IS A TEST

1Blessed is the One Who has all authority in His Hands. And He has power over all things. 2He is the One' Who created death and life in order to test which of you is best in deeds. And He is the Almighty, truly Forgiving.

ALLAH'S PERFECT CREATION

3He is the One' Who created seven heavens, one above the other. You will never see any imperfection in the creation of the Most Kind. So look again: do you see any mistakes? 4Then look again and again—your eyes will be tired but will find nothing. 5And surely We decorated the lowest heaven with 'stars like' lamps, and made them 'as tools' for stoning devils,' and We have prepared for them the punishment of the blazing Fire.

Verse 5: The devils who tried to listen secretly to what the angels were saying in heaven.

SIDE STORY

SIDE STORY

The Prophet said that Allah will aska disbeliever on Judgment Day, If you had enough gola to fill up the whole world, would you pay it Today to save yourself from Hell? The disbelieve. will cry, Yes, my Lord. Allah will say,Well, I had asked you for something much less-not to worship others with Me, but you didn't listen. Then this person will be thrown into the Fire {Recorded by Iman Al-Bukhari & Imam Muslim)

PUNISHMENT OF THE DISBELIEVERS

6Those who disbelieve in their Lord will suffer the punishment of Jahannam. What an evil destination! 7When they are thrown into it, they will hear its roaring as it boils over, 8almost exploding in anger. Every time a group is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them, "Did a warner not come to you?" 9They will cry, "Yes, a warner actually came to us, but we rejected the message' and said, 'Allah has revealed nothing. You are completely Mistaken.'" 10And they will cry, "If only we had listened and reasoned, we would not be among the people of the blazing Fire!" 11And so they will admit their sins. So away with the people of the blazing Fire!

REWARD OF THE BELIEVERS

12Surely those who honour their Lord without seeing Him will have forgiveness and a huge reward.

SIDE STORY

SIDE STORY

A sinful man came to a scholar and said, i do a lot of bad things, and I can't quit. But I don't want Allah to punish me. The scholar said, If you keep disobeying Allah, then you should do the following:

1.Don't eat from His resources.

2.Don't live in His kingdom.

3.Don't let Him see you when you sin..

4.Don't die when your death comes.

5.Don't let the angels punish you on Judgment Day.

The man said, But I can't do any of these things. No one provides for me except Allah. There is no other kingdom outside His kingdom. He sees me no matter where l am. I can't stop death. And I can't stop the angels from punishing me. So the scholar said, Then you shouldn't dis- obey Him. The man said, You are right.

A man was looking for a job in his town but couldn't find any. The Imam advised him to search somewhere else. So the man was on the way to another town, when he decided to have Some rest inside a cave. In the cave, he saw a bird with a broken wing inside a nest, then another bird came several timnes to put food in the mouth of that bird. The man decided to go back to his town. The Imam asked why he came back, and the man said that Allah gave him a sign. He told the Imam about the story of the two birds then said, 1 learned from the bird with the broken wing that I should just sit in my house and Allah will send someone to put food in my mouth,The Imam said, Why did you choose to become the bird with the broken wing and not the other bird that was able to work and help others?

According to the following passage, Allah has made the earth smooth for us so we can work and make a living.

QUESTION 1) DOES ALLAH NOT KNOW?

13Whether you speak secretly or openly He surely knows best what is 'hidden' in the hearts. 14How could He not know His Own creation when He has knowledge of the smallest details² and is fully Aware? 15He is the One Who smoothed out the earth for you, so move throughout it 'for work' and eat from His resources. And to Him all will be raised back to life.

Verse 14: 2 A-Lotif also means the Most Gentle.

QUESTION 2) ARE YOU OUT OF ALLAH'S REACH?

16Do you feel safe that the One in heaven will not cause the earth to swallow you up as it shakes violently? 17Or do you feel safe that the One in heaven will not send against you a storm of stones. Only then would you know how 'serious' My warning was! 18And definitely those before them rejected 'as well', then how severe was My response!

QUESTION 3) DO YOU NOT SEE ALLAH'S POWER?

19Have they not seen the birds above them, spreading and folding their wings? No one holds them up except the Most Kind. He truly sees everything. 20Also, which 'powerless' force will come to help you against the Most Kind? The disbelievers are truly deceived. 21Or who is it that will provide for you if He holds back His resources? In fact, they went too far in acting arrogantly and running away from the truth.

QUESTION 4) ARE BELIEVERS AND DISBELIEVERS EQUAL?

22Who is rightly' guided: the one who crawls with their face down or the one who walks upright on the Straight Path?

QUESTION 5) WHO CREATED YOU?

23Say, "O Prophet," "He is the One Who brought you into existence and gave you hearing, sight, and minds." "Yet" you hardly give any thanks." 24"Also" say, "He is the One Who has spread you throughout the earth, and to Him you will 'all' be gathered 'for judgment'."

QUESTION 6) DO YOU STILL DENY JUDGMENT?

25Still they ask 'the believers mockingly', "When will this threat come to pass, if what you say is true?" 26Say, "O Prophet," "That knowledge is with Allah alone, and I am only sent with a clear warning." 27Then when they see that 'punishment' coming close, the faces 'of the disbelievers' will be depressed. And it will be said 'to them', "This is what you claimed would never come."

BACKGROUND STORY

BACKGROUND STORY

The idol-worshippers wished for the Prophet to die. So, the following passage tells them that it doesn't matter whether he lives or dies-either way, they will be punished for reject. ing his message. And this is what they should be worried about, not his life or death. (Record- ed by Imam Aț-Tabari)

QUESTION 7) WHO ELSE CAN HELP YOU?

28Say, 'O Prophet,' "Think about this: whether Allah causes me and those with me to die or shows us mercy, who will save the disbelievers from a painful punishment?" 29Say, "He is the Most Kind—in Him 'alone' we believe, and in Him 'alone' we trust. You will soon know who was clearly mistaken." 30Say, "Think about this: if your water sank deep 'into the earth, then who 'else' could bring you flowing water?"
