LEARNING POINTS

LEARNING POINTS

This surah talks about the attitude of the hypocrites of Madinah, especially a man named Ibn Saloul.

The hypocrites lied and made secret plans to stop people from coming to Islam and donating to needy Muslims.

The believers are asked to have true faith in Allah and spend in His way before it is too late.

THE HYPOCRITES HAVE NO FAITH

1When the hypocrites come to you 'O Prophet', they say, "We acknowledge that you are definitely the Messenger of Allah"—and Allah truly knows that you are His Messenger—but Allah is a witness that the hypocrites are surely lying. 2They have made their "false' oaths as a shield, preventing 'others' from the Way of Allah. It is truly evil what they do! 3This is because they believed and then lost faith. So their hearts have been sealed, leaving them unable to understand.

NOT EVERYTHING THAT SHINES IS GOLD

4When you see them, their looks impress you. And when they speak, you listen to their 'impressive' speech. But they are 'just' like 'useless' pieces of wood put 'against a wall'. They 'are so guilty that they' are alarmed by every shout. They are the enemy, so watch out for them. May they be doomed by Allah! How can they be turned away 'from the truth'?

NO REPENTING

5When it is said to them, "Come! Let the Messenger of Allah pray for your forgiveness," they shake their heads, and you 'O Prophet' see them turn away in arrogance. 6It is the same whether you pray for their forgiveness or not, Allah will never forgive them. Surely Allah does not guide the troublemakers.

BACKGROUND STORY

BACKGROUND STORY

The chief of the hypocrites, lbn Saloul, heard that one of the Mak- kan Muslim immigrants kicked a Muslim from Madinah, so lbn Sa- loul got very angry and told other hypocrites, How dare those ref- ugees do this. I told you, feed a dog and he will eat you up. That is it. If you stop providing for them, they will run away from Muham- mad . When we return to Madinah, our people of honour and power will expel those nobodies. A young man named Zaid heard what lbn Saloul said and reported it to the Prophet . lbn Saloul that Zaid was lying. Later, the following passage was revealed. So the swore to the Prophet Prophet E told Zaid that he was telling the truth. {Recorded by Imam Al-Bukhari}.

HATRED TO THE BELIEVERS

7They are the ones who say 'to each other', "Do not donate 'anything' to those 'emigrants' with the Messenger of Allah so that they will break away 'from him'." But the treasures of the heavens and the earth belong to Allah 'alone', yet the hypocrites do not really understand. 8They say, "When we return to Madinah, the people of honour and power will definitely kick out those nobodies." But all honour and power belongs to Allah, His Messenger, and the believers, yet the hypocrites do not know.

SIDE STORY

SIDE STORY

A Muslim ruler, known as Al-Mansur, once had a dream of the An.gel of Death in the form ofa man. AI-Manşur got very scared and asked the angel, When am I going to die? The angel put up his hand, showing 5 fingers. Al-Manşur woke up and asked people to explain his dream. Some said, You will die in 5 hours. They wait- ed for 5 hours, and nothing happened. Others said, 5 days,5 weeks, or 5 months, but nothing happened. Finally, they invited Imam Abu Hanifah, one of the greatest scholars of all time, who said, The Angel of Death is telling you that he doesn't know. Your time to die is one of the 5 things that no one knows except Alah

Illustration

These 5 things are listed in the last verse of Surah Luqman (31:34) as follows:.

1 Only Allah knows when exactly the Hour of Judgment will come

2 Only He knowS when it's going to rain, how many drops of rain will come down, how much of it will be used by people and animals, and how much will go into the earth..

3.Only He knows everything about a baby inside their mother, such as whether they are a boy ora girl, when they will be born, how long they will live, how they will live their life, whether they will be happy or miserable, and whether they will go to Jannah or Jahannam.

4. Only He knowS what a person will earn in the future in terms of money, deeds, and so on..

5. And only He knows exactly when and where a person will die.

WORDS OF WISDOM

WORDS OF WISDOM

Speaking of dreams, the Prophet said that there are 3 types:.

1. A dream from Allah-for example, when you see yourself happy, enjoying life, or in Jannah. You may tell family members or close friends about your dream, but don't share it with everyone because some people might be jealous..

2. Anightrmare from Shaytanfor example, when you see yourself suffering, choking, or dying. It's better not to share this with anyone, because those who love you will be worried about you, and those who don't like you will be happy that you had a bad dream..

3. A dream from yourselffor example, if you are having a final exam next week and you keep thinking about exams, you might have dreams of yourself going to school and taking the test. If you have dreams of your grandmother who passed away 2 years ago, this is because you miss he so much. (Recorded by Imam Muslim} Some dreams come true (like the dreams of Yusuf a and the King of Egvpt in Surah 12), but many or them dont. Some people can interpret dreams correctly. but many people can't. Don't be distracted by dreams. Always keep in mind that Allah does what is best for vou, and you are always under His care..

We know for sure that we will die one day. But we don't know when, So, we should try to do good all the time, and not wait until it's too late. The Prophet told us:.

1. Take advantage of your free time before you get busy.

2. Take advantage of your money before you become poor..

3. Take advantage of your good health before you fall sick.

4. Take advantage of your young age before you become old.

5. And take advantage of your life before you die. {Recorded by Imam Al-Hakim}.

When death comes, people realize that they have spent most of their lives doing things that don't really matter on Judgment Day. According to the following passage, some will regret not paying their zakah. Others will regret not doing their şalah. Some wil regret not spending enough time with their parents. Others will regret not realizing the true meaning of happiness.

BE FAITHFUL AND CHARITABLE

9O believers! Do not let your wealth or your children distract you from the remembrance of Allah. Those who do so are the 'true' losers. 10And donate from what We have given you before death comes to one of you, and they cry, "My Lord! If only you gave me a little more time, I would give charity and become one of the faithful." 11But Allah will never give anyone extra time when death comes. And Allah is fully Aware of what you do.
